Esalen Women’s Visionary Leadership Summit

October 16-18, 2020 some of the most powerful voices shaping the future of our society will gather in the world renowned retreat center of Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California to elevate feminine leadership and catalyze transformative societal change.

Mission:

Unleash the fullest potential of embodied, visionary women leaders to give rise to a global culture with human and planetary thriving at the core.

In this 2.5 day, two night gathering we will:

  • Listen deeply to the wisdom emerging through the sacred land of Esalen and each one of us at this time.

  • Support each other in nurturing rituals and experiences to clear anything that stands between you and your full expression.

  • Share tools and skills for building and implementing feminine principles of mentorship, community, collaboration, authenticity and vulnerability, into culture.

  • Collectively envision the inspired future we will help create.

  • Examine the vectors of change and how we can amplify our impact and get into action.

  • Begin an enduring community charged with embodying and leading the next wave of women’s empowerment, for ourselves and our world.

At a time when our world is cleaving from polarization, climate change and forces that appear to be driving us apart, the time for refreshing, diverse, feminine leadership is now.

Inside women are the keys toward a new paradigm of human flourishing, abundance and peaceful coexistence. As we sit in the most diverse circle of inter-generational, cross-cultural women ever to meet on the Esalen campus, we will begin bringing a new world into existence immediately. We will draw from each other, a rich combination of ancient wisdom and modern science, from the fields of medicine, film, science, business, psychology, consciousness, technology, finance and cultural arts. We will rest, connect, and listen to the Esalen land, waters, and mountains. We will learn from each other’s wisdom across disciplines, backgrounds and generations and share our visions to facilitate individual, systems level and societal transformation. Together, we will collectively shape the experience and the vision for bringing this transformational leadership to our communities and to the world.

G.B. Shaw—“All progress depends on the unreasonable Woman”

Who is this for?

This is for women who have taken the heroine’s journey and have now returned home to share their wisdom. They have transcended the I and are now in service to the WE. You are ready to continue bringing your own healing gifts and wisdom to the world from a place of embodied truth, grace, courage, and compassion.

This year is the inaugural event of what we anticipate to become a larger annual event. As such we are looking to assemble a group of leaders passionate about being part of shaping the foundation and direction of how this movement will grow, evolve and positively shape culture.

How to Apply:

The first year of this Summit is carefully curated to assemble our core team for bringing this work forth. If you would like to request an invitation please visit the Esalen catalog for more information and to apply to attend.

“In the next 30 years we can destroy our world. With the very same powers - spiritual, social, scientific - we can evolve our world. Our mission is to serve as catalysts for a planetary awakening in our lifetime, to take a non-violent path to the next stage of our evolution.” - Barbara Marx Hubbard

WHAT TO EXPECT

In addition to the structured time in workshop, participants will be encouraged to take part in meditation, yoga, journaling, mineral baths and time spent soaking in the magnificent grounds of Esalen. Our intention is for leaders to come away from this summit revitalized, deeply connected, inspired and united by a powerful vision for where we are headed and how we will lead this transformation.

FRIDAY: CONNECT & REST

SATURDAY: REVEAL, INQUIRE, & PLAY

Sunday:

Enacting Change

Our emphasis on Sunday will be in turning outward and envisioning how to build a better world, developing strategies for activating feminine leadership in our communities and catalyzing a global movement. We will share our insights and visions for the break out groups as we begin to establish our collective vision for the future.

Finally, we will discuss plans for how to interweave our efforts to support one another, direct the emergence of this community as it builds momentum and propagates.

About Esalen:

We are extremely honored to be hosting this gathering of women visionaries in one of the most visually stunning and culturally significant retreat centers the world over, at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California.

Esalen. The word itself summons up tantalizing visions of adventure, of unexplored frontiers, of human possibilities yet to be realized. There is the wonder of the place itself, 120 acres of fertile land carved out between mountain and ocean, blessed by a cascading canyon stream and hot mineral springs gushing out of a seaside cliff. Founded in 1962 by Michael Murphy and Dick Price, Esalen is the birthplace of the human potential movement. It is where some of the greatest culture creators of all time, including Abraham Maslow, Fritz & Laura Perls, Alan Watts, Joan Baez, Ida Rolf, and many others, came to connect, iterate, and share their wisdom. Esalen boasts breakthroughs in fields from Gestalt psychology to quantum physics, from philosophy to economics, from body work to citizen diplomacy.

We are overjoyed to welcome this group of women visionaries to this extraordinary land and catalyze our collective action toward a ground swell in feminine leadership at a time when when the global ecosystem has never felt more fertile for transformative change.

Awaken Society: Oshun

Lucy is very excited to be returning to Awaken Society’s Spring Retreat at the spectacular Bell Valley Retreat Center in Boonville, CA. At this retreat she will focus on empowering women to step into our role as leaders with greater love, courage and vibrancy at this transformative era of human history.

We would love for you to join us for this experience of deep engagement, discovery, empowerment, and fostering of well-being.

Oshun was known as the goddess of fertility, prosperity and bodies of water — worshiped in African, Brazilian and Cuban cultures.

Also known as “Lady of Gold” for creating a flow of abundance, generosity and prosperity. Fun Fact: Singer Beyonce has been known to embody her, performing in Oshun inspired outfits.

Oshun plays to the theme of this dynamic retreat as we gather within the Navarro River basin and kick off the first week of Spring. It’s time to wash away that which is no longer serving you, become crystal clear on your motivations, and make the decisions necessary to move ambitiously towards your dreams in 2020. No matter what you hope to transform: your mindset, business, relationship, body, financial health, etc. — our coaches are here to help.

The Journey Talks for Female Founders

Please join us in a conversation on "Power", more details to come!
https://www.facebook.com/events/347415079312330/

Joining us this evening:

Lucy Caldwell is a social psychologist, venture philanthropist and creator of the Life Revealed podcast featuring the defining stories of trailblazers of the world. For twenty years she has devoted herself to the science and practice of how people change, drawing upon the traditions of social psychology and wisdom based practices. Lucy is a steward of aligning people to their highest purpose and truth with an emphasis on awakening, empowering and dynamically reshaping culture.

Julia Li led the marketing team at Scalable Press - the world’s first tech company using software and automation to disrupt the $30B printing industry. Scalable Press is unfunded and profitable, with over 300 employees and over 25 million products shipped. Li is an accidential, serial entrepreneur. At 21, she founded Agency Element - a brand management firm that drove over $500M in revenue and averaged 350% return for clients. Their work spanned across multiple verticals including luxury goods, lifestyle/consumer services, B2B markets, and the hospitality industry. Li is the former CMO of Materialist, a venture-backed startup solving the massive material sourcing challenge for the $235B interior building materials market. She later built a funded, stealth-mode beauty subscription startup before joining Scalable Press.

Dr. Helen Chen, Founder of Guided Clarity. Guided Clarity has developed a new class of compounds to target and clear cells of dysfunctional mitochondria, improving cellular energy production. Their compounds are synthesized from naturally-occurring ingredients in food, so they are both safe and affordable as a medical food. In their first clinical study on healthy volunteers, the data showed an increase in insulin sensitivity, a reduction in inflammation marker NLR, and improved physical function. Guided Clarity is focused on healthy aging, improving mitochondrial function both in the brain and on the periphery.

Dr. Siv Watkins, Founder of 11Biomics. 11Biomics has developed a very effective, non-pesticide plant treatment that solves a huge problem for the fast-growing cannabis industry — powdery mildew disease. Powdery mildew disease can spike in a cannabis grow operation overnight, ruining a harvest worth millions. Existing antifungal treatments are ineffective or damage the plant. 11Biomics heals plants in a manner of hours by rebalancing the plant’s phytobiome, using natural hyper-antagonists to fungal diseases. Their platform of seven plant therapeutics allows 11Biomics to tune their therapy to different regions of the country, as well as treat other crops commonly affected by powdery mildew — hops, grapes, and tomatoes.

Dr. Inja Radman, Founder of New Culture Foods. New Culture is making cheese without the cow. Combining dairy proteins, expressed by microflora, with plant lipids and sugars, their method arrives at curds that are then advanced into the traditional cheesemaking process, be that stirred, kneaded, stretched or aged. New Culture’s cheese has the signature textural properties and qualities that we’re all familiar with in dairy cheese. By removing the cow from the cheesemaking process, New Culture’s cheese is more sustainable, ethical, and better for the world.

Awakened Futures May 18-19th, San Francisco

How might psychedelics, technology and meditation intersect to create scalable individual and collective transformation?

For millennia, humans have used ancient technologies like meditation and psychedelic medicine to expand their consciousness, support healing and facilitate deep personal and collective transformation. As we continue to expand our technological capacities in the modern age, new tools for transformation are being birthed, and hold promising potential as solutions to humanity's systemic problems.

On May 18th and 19th, 2019, Consciousness Hacking will be holding our first annual 2-day Awakened Futures Summit. Together we will explore how the renaissance of psychedelic science and the mainstreaming of contemplative practices might combine with the latest transformative technologies to create the next paradigm of healing and awakening.

Lucy will join a fascinating group of thought other leaders, visionaries, teachers, researchers and entrepreneurs at the leading-edge to explore the integration points between these domains.

Building Bridges Salon Series

Lucy co-hosts the Building Bridges salon series with fellow thought-leaders John Hagel, co-chairman of Center for the Edge and investor Tim Chang, partner at the Mayfield Fund.

Grounded in research on successful movements of social change, these salons bring together movement leaders on the cutting edge of societal transformation with visionaries, investors and experts in the social sciences.

Our goal with these salons is threefold:

1. to create a culture of authentic sharing and emotional support for the leaders of vital modern-day movements who are working tirelessly on the front lines of change

2. To share insights, feedback, resources, and make connections that will help accelerate the impact of the movements around the table and, ultimately, a broader range of movements

3. To interweave the ideas generated across the movements to create a compelling collective narrative and inspired beautiful future

Movement leaders include:

  • Tiffany Shlain: Tech-Shabbat Movement, a movement focused on getting families and individuals to unplug and reconnect. Tiffany is an Emmy-nominated Film-maker, the Founder of the Webby Awards, author of 24/6 & Creative Director of Let it Ripple Film Studio.

  • Dale Dougherty: Maker Movement. Dale is CEO and Founder of Maker Media and publisher of Make Magazine. He has been called the “godfather of the Maker movement”, having founded both the magazine and the first Maker Faire in 2006. Dale was instrumental in launching the Maker movement which is reshaping science and technology education and creating unprecedented economic opportunity for young people and a renaissance in urban manufacturing.

Sound & Silence Experience, Costa Rica

We invite you to join us on an odyssey deep into the heart space, beyond the senses, into the precious nature of paradise and among your awaiting conscious community. This is no ordinary gathering. In fact, at one point, we even called it a festival, because indeed we are celebrating this sweet life. However, we soon realized that this was more than a festival – it has become a living retreat, a gathering of heart-centered beings from all walks of life who come together to radiate love and share moments of sheer joy and captivating experiences. These gatherings are also a return to the essence and purity of live music, dance and the meditative arts.

Participants at Sound & Silence have the opportunity to meet with social psychologist Lucy Caldwell in an intimate 1-on-1 setting to reflect on their deeply held values, question their own assumptions, and transform their personal narratives. In these sessions you will learn powerful tools for releasing old stories that perpetuate suffering and stagnation and will form new ways of thinking and embodying your gifts in order to triumph over adversity and gain more emotional freedom. Lucy’s techniques are based upon extensive knowledge of the field of social psychology together with wisdom based traditions and practices.
